I get a lot of spam email.  Most often from a widow, or orphan, who, for some reason, trust me implicitly, and want to share their incredible wealth and good fortune with me – all they ask is that I give them my bank details and then forward the vast sums they will deposit, in my account, into a neutral country’s banking system.  What could go wrong?  Or a young lady has seen my profile somewhere and wants to chat and share her latest photos with me – incredibly, she finds me irresistible, and wants to stake her future happiness on meeting me.  More often than not, though, it’s Eric, who seems to constantly stumble across my website and be pleasantly surprised at how good it is but has a few suggestions that may increase my customer base – in fact he emailed again this morning, having forgotten that he emailed me a couple of times last week.

Therefore, when I received an email asking if I’d be interested in having my work appear in an American television series, I didn’t hesitate to delete it, think no more about it, and go about my business.

Approximately two minutes later, that business done and having researched the sender’s credentials, I was replying with something along the lines of, ‘Absolutely I would – I’m very interested and would love to know more.’

I heard nothing more, and had dismissed it from my mind, when Dara emailed again a month or so later.  We exchanged numbers, had a chat on the phone, and he explained all about it.  I’ll admit I was a little excited.  He needed the pieces that Saturday so there was no time to make anything specific – I had to see what I had about the place that would suit.  After a bit of rummaging, I sent pictures, and on the Saturday morning a big van pulled up to the cottage and then drove off with the chairs in the back.

I waited nervously for the reaction to the chairs once they arrived on set.  It was with considerable relief that I read Dara’s email a couple of days later to say he was very happy with them, and that he would ‘age’ them with a dark stain.

That was last year.

The first episode of AMC’s Sci-Fi production, ‘Moonhaven’, will air on June 30th in America; a release date for this side of the world is yet to be confirmed.  If you get the chance to see it, you may, if you look very, very carefully, catch a fleeting glimpse of a chair or two that I made.

I am very grateful to Dara, and everyone involved in the production, for giving me a glimpse of another world. Their work, their creation, looks absolutely spectacular!!

I wish them future success and every happiness.
